ÖAV Kletterhalle Bad Ischl

Katrin Kletterhalle,
with indoor and outdoor via ferrata

The Bett & Berg is probably the only 24/7 check-in hotel in the world with its own climbing hall. It has it all. Because in the 55 m2 large and 14.5 m high hall there is a climbing wall with an area of 340 m2, on which both professionals and recreational climbers can really let off steam.

The climbing hall with via ferrata is ideal for sports enthusiasts and provides an adventure even in bad weather. The hall is located directly in the building next to the valley station of the Katrin cable car.

In short: The climbing hall is not only a perfect complement to the Katrin via ferrata and the more than 25 other via ferratas in the Salzkammergut. It also offers weather-independent training opportunities for all age and skill groups.

Climbing in all weathers

The climbing hall/via ferrata of the Alpenverein Salzkammergut is located in the building next to the valley station of the Katrin cable car in the spa and imperial town of Bad Ischl. An ideal climbing experience in all weathers!

The climbing hall is built in a 55 m² room with a height of 14.5 m. A 340 m² climbing wall is available for climbing. Currently, about 55 sport climbing routes from the fourth to the upper eighth degree of difficulty are set. Three TruBlue automatic belays enable spontaneous climbing even without a belay partner. Another novelty in our hall is the possibility of indoor ice climbing. With so-called drytooling devices, the physical strain and handling of ice axes is simulated extremely realistically. So you can train with us in summer for the next ice climbing season!

Since 2016, our climbing hall has been able to offer a special feature in the Salzkammergut: the new, 135m long indoor/outdoor via ferrata. The via ferrata with a length of 135m is located in the stairwell and outside the building on its front façade. The difficulties range in different sections from A to E, i.e. very easy to extremely difficult. This is not only a perfect complement to the Katrin via ferrata and the more than 25 other via ferratas in the Salzkammergut, but also offers weather-independent training opportunities for all age groups. We are also happy to offer via ferrata introductory evenings (from 3 people) by arrangement.

The ÖAV climbing hall is available not only to members, but to all climbing enthusiasts at very favourable conditions 365 days a year. .

Calling all users

In order to be able to keep the climbing hall open for as long as possible, we do not have constant supervision in the hall. We therefore ask all users of the climbing hall to behave responsibly in order to avoid accidents.

The usage fee to cover the running costs must be paid before climbing.

On the first visit, a registration form must be filled out.
